Who are you following?

A lesson for today’s Christian from the church of Corinth. That church was quarreling about who in the church was better, determined by the person they followed. Was it Apollos or was it Paul? Finally, Paul asked the question is Christ divided. In other words, because they were determining who they were based on who they followed, they were a house divided. As Christians we can have only one leader. There is only one that can unite us and His name is Jesus Christ. As Jesus told us “And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.“ Mark 3:25

My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.”Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul? 1 Corinthians 1:12-13

So many Christians today follow Donald Trump or Joe Biden. As if these mere men can fix the state of this country. We tout ones policies over the others as the answer to the problems we face. While having different opinions about who to vote for is not wrong itself. It is when we the body of Christ mistakenly follow candidates so passionately that we become “double minded”, in the sense that we become Republican or Democrat and try to remain Christian at the same time. We let the donkey and the elephant determine who we are instead of the cross.

Who do you follow?

If we want real change in this country it won’t be done at the ballot box. It will be done on our knees. Vote! Vote for the person that you feel best aligns with your beliefs. Than pray that whoever is elected to the White House will be affected by the One in Gods house. We change things by prayer.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.Romans 8:26-27

Let your life be determined by the things of the cross and let your vote be determined by prayer and the spirit given you.

Praise God
