God led the Israelites into the desert and Moses went up on the Mountian to speak with God. While he was up on the mountain the people became restless and tired of waiting on the promised land. They decided that they would seek their own salvation and create a savior of their own. A golden calf was created and they worshiped it. When God saw what they did He sent a plague on the people and blotted out their name from the book of life. Exodus 32.
Christians around the world wait for the return of our King, Jesus Christ. However, some evangelical Christians have grown weary and created a new golden calf, Donald Trump. He is worshiped and touted as the savior of Christianity. They are willing to overlook that he is an unrepentant misogynist, tax dodging fraud who hides behind lawyers, and blabs about state secrets to be a big shot. They say it doesn’t matter about the man he is only what he does. WHAT!? What if part of what he does is make Christ and His followers look like hypocritical boobs?
Paul gives Titus a description of what a leader should exemplify if he is going to be a representative of God.
Titus 1:7-8
“Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.”
Donald Trump who is now promoting a “Patriotic” Bible has placed himself in evangelical circles as a representative of God’s Holy Word. A Bible that promotes not just God’s word but the doctrines of the United States along side pictures of the golden calf himself. Caution this video of Trump hawking himself and promoting MAGA while holding a Bible may make you ill.
